Okay, so I just bought a JXD 7800b and it was working fine. I wanted to load the Supercharged Firmware on, so I downloaded the Rockchip Batch Tool located in the Supercharged thread on these message boards. When I plugged it in to my computer, the system was not recognized.

I used the drivers in the Rockchip batch folder to install the drivers. I used vol + & Power for 4 seconds to get it to recognize, and batch tool noticed it right away. I started the upgrade process, and it grabbed some things, but when it was waiting for the loader, it failed. After that, my computer system would not recognize the USB (Says USB Device Not Recognized, USB Device Malfunctioned). Now my unit won't turn on at all. I tried using the reset button, but it doesn't do anything. Did I just brick my unit?

I obviously don't have much experience in this. I'm having a similar problem to this guy. While I've had Android devices in the past, I've never Rooted them or changed any of their firmwares, and while I did try to follow the instructions as closely as I could, I still don't know what I'm doing and they weren't clear enough for me. Thanks for letting me know it should be fixable. I've done a little bit of digging and found some threads about un-bricking. I've tried using rktoolkit, and while it recognizes the device, it will get stuck on checking the partition size. I found another tool, the 'Linux Upgrade Tool' But honestly, I have no idea what I'm doing with it, and I'd really rather not screw this up any further.

It does recognize it, too, though. I'll take a look at lujji's rom - had no idea supercharged was out of date. Ok, so your device is recognized by Rockchip Batch Tool. Plese note that you must use the RESTORE option, not upgrade. Restore will delete all previous firmware and install a new clean one. As said, search for the lujji's Kitkat 4.4.4 thread. Since his firmware is KitKat, you should be able to install it. And it is the best firmware and the newest one.

First models were RK3188 chipset at 1.8 Ghz. Then they changed it for RK3188-T version at 1.6 Ghz (mine). Then even worse models at 1.4 Ghz and finally the devices with the power sleep issue. I am using the overclocked version of lujji's and it is stable on my device, even at 1.7 Ghz, but my tablet is second generation. You can try this overclocked firmware with no risk, but if you see that your tablet freezes sometimes, you will need to install the regular lujji's firmware (always with the RESTORE option).

Also, even if you do not see freezes, still run AnTuTu benchmark app (download it from Play Store): you should get about 24,000 points. If you get less, you will need to install the default version in any case because you are loosing real performance. Even with default lujji's firmware, although lujji recommends to set the governor of CPU to 'interactive', it seems that newer devices can have problems with the power button going to sleep. If this is your case, instead try the 'ondemand' governor and, if you still have any problem, try to set the CPU speed to 1.4 Ghz instead 1.6 Ghz. Scheduler always on 'deadline'.

I had the blue square, I did exactly as he said, and it seemed to go through just fine. It flashed, I actually got the JXD logo, and recovery did it's thing. Then, the unit said the battery was dead and charging. Okay, makes sense. It was in recovery mode all night and I didn't keep it plugged in.

But then, when the computer recognized the device as android, the screen went black. And since then, it won't turn on at all.

I left it to charge for 4 hours and it still would not turn on. It wasn't being recognized at all by the computer anymore.

I stupidly did Vol+ and Power to get it to recognize. While a signal is going out now, ALL computers are reading the device as malfunctioning. Windows 7 and Windows XP. It doesn't even show up in RK anymore. Now I don't know what to do at all.

I'm pretty frustrated, as you can guess - I feel like I invested in a $140 paperweight. Maybe I'm not cut out to use one of these, but if ANYONE has anything they know to help, PLEASE let me know. If that is not the problem and you are using the correct AC adapter, then maybe the tablet is finally bricked. Never install a firmware with no battery, it is the most important thing!

If you do not find a solution, I would suggest to try to return the tablet as defective to the seller. Shipment is expensive, but at least you will get a new device. Think that JXD itself offers new firmware updates, so you are not doing really any illegal, there is always some risk when installing any firmware. But do not say any of this to the seller just in case, just tell him that the dablet did not work from the beginning. Your tablet is in good condition, just has a software issue, and I think that you have the right to return it, is all I can say. I was and have been using the power cable provided in the box to charge - it's the only power cable they sent.

I remember reading that the USB does NOT work for charging, so I wasn't doing that. I'm in contact with some Android shops in the area to see if any of them are willing to try and fix this for me.

I read that you can get the device into Mask mode by shorting some pins; at this point that maybe be what I have to do. Although I'm not comfortable doing it myself. As for returning. I tried that. The seller assured me that he tested the unit before he sent it out and would not replace it for me unless something happened in shipment. But what happened, to the seller, was clearly not caused by shipment problems, so he's not buying. So I was honest and told him I bricked it trying to upgrade the firmware.

No response, of course. I might try again, but I just don't know anymore. I might just have to buy another one.

As much as that pains me to say. I feel pretty stupid. I was afraid I had gone hard brick, but actually. I'm not sure why, but the unit just needed the reset pin to be pushed in.

I seriously am not skilled at these sorts of things at all. In fact, I'm going to wait to upgrade the firmware a bit. I'd like to enjoy my unit for a little first. Now, I have a new problem.

The power button seems to work, but if the unit goes into sleep mode, it won't turn back on. Does this have something to do with the firmware I flashed (Which was the stock JXD S7000B 16GB, Android 4.2.2 firmware)? Does that mean I need to flash it again to fix the problem? That is the problem that I told you just before, about the power button issue. It seems something related to newer models, even with stock firmware!!! There is another post of a guy having the same issue, read it and try to contact this person. I recommended him to use lujji's firmware with 'ondemand' governor instead ineractive, as I have said to you.

However, although this reduces the problem and fix it for some people, it seems that does not eliminate it for all the models. To find a fix for this would be a discovery. I decided to take the risk and upgrade the firmware to Lujji's. I used this video to do it: The only difference is, what you have to do when he gets to the part about putting the JXD in flash mode, is first to turn the device on and mount the device as USB Mass Storage.
